The Cast

The Players or Planets follow various schedules as they move around this ring of Constellations, the Zodiac, our Stage.. Each of the signs act like filters for the planets and color their activity. We observe the planets in two ways: the stationary position they occupy in the birth chart (where they were when the chart was set up) and as they continue to move around the Zodiac making contacts to other planets in the sky and to the ones in the horoscope. When the degree numbers line up, then we have action.

We call the Sun and Moon part of our cast even though we know on Earth that we orbit the Sun and Moon goes around us. However our perspective is as an Earth dweller, called Geocentric.

sun.gif (2065 bytes)The SUN times our year, taking 365 days to move 360 degrees completely around the Zodiac. It moves about one degree a day, so every 4 years we have to add an extra day to leap up with time. As the Sun visits each Sign, it lights up that area and we get to focus on matters there for that month. It returns to homebase on your birthday.

moon.gif (1849 bytes)The MOON circles the Earth once every 29 days and interacts with the Sun at dark/new moon phase and again at full phase. This pull of the Moon causes the tides to rise and fall, which is it's most obvious cycle.

Whatever sign the Sun is in at your birth determines your personality. The Moon's position describes your emotions. How these two relate in your birth chart tells whether you are comfortable with who you are. New moon people tend to be into themselves, while the full moon people reach out to others. The transiting moon lights up when in your sun sign, gives you energy in its full phase, makes you tired when new.

mercury.gif (1445 bytes)MERCURY moves along with and will be near the Sun in your chart and describes how you think and communicate. We especially watch transiting Mercury when it appears to reverse motion, retrograde, and our minds go out to lunch, skeletons emerge from closets, happens 3 times yearly for 23 days.

venus.gif (1561 bytes)VENUS rules feelings, money and sugar and shows how you express those areas. In your birth chart it will be near your Sun. When transiting through your Sun sign it's party time, and in opposition is junk. Usually you get one of each yearly.

mars.gif (1878 bytes)MARS represents energy, aggression, initiative and where it falls in your chart shows how you express these. Mars takes 2 years to complete the circle, stays 6 weeks in each sign and brings extra activity, sometimes illness, mechanical difficulties, a craving for sugar, perhaps road rage.

How Venus and Mars are aspected in your chart tells whether you are comfortable with your own sexual role, liking or not to either be in charge or to nurture. Practice will ease the stress.

jupiter.gif (1450 bytes)JUPITER represents abundance, and in your chart it often describes your career and how you expand with it. Transiting, it takes 12 years to orbit the Zodiac, and the year that it is in your sign brings pay raises, promotions, marriage, travel, extra weight. When opposite your sign, you tend to feel left out and still fat, the lines are long & you wait for your money.

Saturn.gif (1488 bytes)SATURN represents restriction and limitation and in your chart defines the area where you have lessons to learn. It takes 29 years to circle the Zodiac and stays in each sign for 2 ½ years. When in your sign or opposite, it brings responsibilities and challenges and also helps you lose weight. Taking extra minerals at night will help cut the anxiety.

Jupiter and Saturn are the balance wheels of the financial world and if well aspected in your chart assures that you can always find a job.

Uranus.gif (1674 bytes)URANUS is the planet of freedom and in your chart defines the area where you need to do your own thing and be different. It also rules your electrical system. It takes 84 years to complete the circle, stays in each sign for 7 years and when in your sign or opposite separates you from your job, relationships, house, it's like urban renewal, a great sweeper.

neptune.gif (1745 bytes)NEPTUNE represents dreams, illusions, deception and intuition. In your chart it shows where you may be deceived by self or others, or create your greatest dreams. By transit, it pulls the fog down over the sign it is in, and makes them retreat in confusion. The 14 years in each sign brings up dreams and delusions to be looked at and dealt with.

pluto.gif (1568 bytes)PLUTO has to do with power, groups, and transformation. Where it is in your own chart defines where you must handle your own power. As it transits Sagittarius for about 13 years now, it is transforming attitudes about communication, travel, teaching, ethics, and a direct contact can make you more assertive and in the limelight.

ASPECTS
How They Relate To Each Other

Finally, we look at the mathematical relationship the planets make to each other to determine the kind of activity we can expect.

Conjunction: one planet on top of another intensifies whatever the two or more planets involved.

Opposition: Like the full moon, it implies a tug-of-war or a balancing between you and another.

Square: 90 degrees, right-angled and implies stress, you learn under the squares, or else.

Trine: 120 degree relationship, a triangle is an easy flow without effort on your part.

Sextile: A 60 degree or half the trine implies that opportunities come easily.

The Planets play our their roles in our Theatre in the Round, the Zodiac. By knowing how your birthchart is arranged, and watching the timing of the transiting planets in the sky, then you can plan events, handle stresses and relationships by changing your attitude.

Astrologers have been keeping track of their schedules for a long time, so we have a record of reaction behavior, but we have no control over them. By keeping your own physical body in as good shape as possible, you will be able to weather the difficult times and make the most of the positive ones. This puts you in control of your position in the Theatre, and allows you to enjoy the Play and go with the flow.
